An IVA can typically help people overcome debt in around 5 years by allowing people with numerous debts by condensing them into a single, monthly payment.

Frequently Asked Questions

Shouldn't I pay the lenders back myself?

These solutions exist to help people manage and pay their debts back, and also ensure that lenders are repaid. You will still be repaying your lenders – you’ll simply be doing it a rate you can afford, over a longer period of time.

Why do lenders agree to freeze interest and charges?

Our proposal will show what you can realistically afford, and show that you are making every effort possible to repay your debts. They will want the repayment proposals to be realistic, then they know the arrangements will be maintained. Whilst lenders don’t have to agree, we are able to negotiate with lenders to freeze the interest and charges for 8 out of 10 people on our debt management plan.

Will it affect my credit rating?

Filling out the form above or getting in touch with us won’t affect your credit rating. If you decide to use a debt solution, it will affect your credit rating as you will no longer be repaying your debts in accordance with your agreements. But it is likely that your credit rating has already been affected if you aren’t able to repay your debts.

What will I get with my debt management plan?

If a debt management plan is right for you, we will take care of all the paperwork and set up your plan for you. Once in place, we can offer the following benefits:

We will negotiate for reduced monthly payments on your behalf
We will try to obtain a reduction or freeze in interest
We will deal with your creditors on your behalf

You will have your own personal advisor to provide help and guidance

How does it work?

We go through your income and expenditure with you, so we can calculate how much you can actually afford to put towards your unsecured debts each month, after you’ve allowed for your essential expenses (mortgage/rent, food, utility bills, etc.). Once agreed we’ll negotiate with your lenders to try to agree on a repayment plan. You then simply make a single monthly payment to us and we’ll distribute it as agreed. We also take our monthly fee from each payment you make.

Whilst we can’t guarantee they’ll agree to it, our experience and reputation means we have strong relationships with the creditor industry and we have an excellent success rate. We’ll work on your behalf to show that your offer is fair and reasonable and the best way to ensure you will be able to make regular payments towards repaying your debts in the shortest possible time. We’ll keep you fully informed at all times and deal with all the paperwork and phone calls for you.

We’ll undertake regular reviews with you and also go back to your lenders to renegotiate your repayment plan as and when any change in your circumstances makes this necessary.

What help will it give me?

Our expert debt advisers can recommend the best solution to suit your circumstances to help with all levels of debt. Tell us about your situation, and we will recommend a solution that can help. There are fees payable for some of the services we provide.

How can you help me deal with creditors?

When you enter into a debt management plan with us, we will negotiate for reduced monthly payments on your behalf. While lenders may not always be willing to agree, we may be able to negotiate a freeze or reduction in interest and other charges, meaning more of your lower payment goes towards reducing your balance.

Once your debt management plan begins, we will also handle any correspondence between you and your creditors.

Will I have someone to help me all the way?

On our debt management plan, you will have your own Personal Finance Manager (PFM), who will act as a point of contact between you and your creditors, as well as answering any questions you may have throughout the duration of your debt management plan. Whether it’s regarding your repayment plan or any other financial concerns you may have, your PFM is there to help.

Bear in mind that there are fees for the services we provide. In some cases, this may mean you briefly get further into debt before you start paying them back – but rest assured that as soon as our initial fees are paid, every payment you make will be reducing what you owe.

What if I change my mind?

You are under no obligation whatsoever to enter a debt solution. If you choose to do so, and then change your mind about it, there is a 14 day cancellation period on all of our solutions. You have a right to a full refund of fees paid if you cancel your agreement during this time. After that time you may still be able to cancel, but you wouldn’t receive a refund.
